Terrence M. Zaleski (born 1953) was the first strong-mayor of the city of Yonkers since World War II, and was the predecessor of Mayor John D. Spencer. Zaleski was American of Polish descent from the Southwest part of Yonkers, he was a chemistry teacher and received his law degree from Columbia Law School. He succeeded Nicholas C. Wasicko and was in office from 1992 until 1995.[1] Zeleski began his political career as an Assemblyman, taken the seat that was vacated by former Senator Nicholas A. Spano in 1986.
